Vaccinations

Vaccination data, recorded through the Vaccination Management Tool (VMT) and GP IT systems, is saved on the National Clinical Data Store (NCDS).

Find out more about the Vaccinations API in the service catalogue section.

What is the data used for?

The data allows us to:

  • manage how vaccinations are provided
  • support clinical auditing, public health planning and public accountability
  • ensure information about previous vaccinations is available to clinical staff

Why and how is the data collected?

The vaccination data of individuals is recorded, via the Vaccination Management Tool (VMT) and GP IT systems during each appointment at a vaccination centre/clinic. This data is then stored in the National Clinical Data Store.

This data is a valuable resource as it allows individuals to make informed decisions on vaccination and informs public organisations how to better target their initiatives resulting in improved health outcomes for the people of Scotland.

The following vaccinations are now recorded via the Vaccination Management Tool (VMT) and GP IT systems and stored in the National Clinical Data Store:

  • COVID-19
